BMH Partners with Upward Momentum

Build Missouri Health is proud to partner with Upward Momentum, a Missouri-based philanthropic initiative launched in 2024 to address the root causes of generational poverty and expand economic mobility across the state.

As part of this partnership, Build Missouri Health will serve as intermediary managing this year’s grant funding under Upward Momentum’s Bridging Divides initiative.

Build Missouri Health is proud to welcome the Legal-Behavioral Health Integration Project as a new fiscally sponsored partner. Founded by attorney Patrick Georgen, who is also a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), the project addresses a critical gap at the intersection of behavioral health and the legal system.

As we wrap up this year, we've been reflecting on what it really takes to build healthy communities across Missouri. And what keeps coming up, again and again, is this: communities already have the solutions.

With seasons shifting, extreme weather becoming more common, and a growing sense of uncertainty, conversations around the future of our communities can often feel overwhelming. That’s why we created the Youth Community Leaders Program.

The Center on Rural Parenting (CRP) and Build Missouri Health (BMH) are joining forces to advance rural health equity by centering the experiences of parents and caregivers. The Center on Rural Parenting is a rural Reproductive Justice organization working to create safe and sustainable rural communities by improving parenting environments through collaborative action, storytelling and education.

Stronger than the Storm: Investing in Missouri’s Health

Tornadoes aren’t only about broken windows and downed power lines. Just like floods aren’t only about wet carpet and drowned crops, or heat waves about a few uncomfortable days. These extreme weather events break systems: health systems, housing systems, community support systems. And those breaks are deepest where communities were already stretched thin.

to be healthy.

Spring = Preparation + Anticipation

At Build Missouri Health, we’re also anticipating exciting things for 2024 and began the year preparing the board for our new work with an annual retreat. Our board retreats give us focused time to build relationships with each other and dive deep into topics relevant to BMH’s mission, vision, and values. Deciding to add a site visit led us to hold our retreat across the state in Kansas City, MO!

St. Louis Equal Housing and Community Reinvestment Alliance (SLEHCRA) Joins Build Missouri Health as a Fiscally Sponsored Project

Build Missouri Health (BMH), with its mission to foster and amplify community-led innovations through partnerships resulting in radical systems changes that create equitable health outcomes, is thrilled to welcome SLEHCRA into its fold. This partnership represents a significant step towards addressing the systemic issues that impact both housing and health outcomes in the St. Louis region.
